Auto loan payment calculator
Estimate a car loan payment with price, down payment, trade-in, amount still owed, sales tax and fees, and see total interest and negative equity.
Estimates only, not an offer of credit. Express Approvals is not a lender or mortgage broker, doesn't make loans or credit decisions and can't guarantee approval, rates or terms. Results depend entirely on the numbers you enter. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us.
How this calculator works
Amount financed = price + sales tax + fees − cash down − trade-in value + amount still owed on the trade-in. The payment uses the standard amortization formula with the rate you enter. Negative equity is the amount owed above the trade-in's value.
Check it by hand: $30,000 at 7.00% for 60 months is $594.04 a month, with about $5,642 of total interest.
Frequently asked questions
Should I finance through the dealer or my bank?
Compare both. The CFPB suggests getting pre-approved before shopping, so you can tell whether the dealer's offer is better.
Does a longer term save money?
It lowers the payment but usually raises total interest. Use the term field to compare.
